All
I can say is WOW! This is an incredible piece of work. Within
5 minutes of starting DataPulse, I was able to read my 4D structure
and generate a SQL DDL. The only reason it took 5 minutes is
because I wandered around the diagram to see what reading the
structure had done.

I
started using DataPulse when I was asked to write a new example
database for 4th Dimension 6.7. Wow! DataPulse made it super-easy
for me... DataPulse saved me many hours on this project, and
improved the quality of the final product. And now I've been
playing around with the new DataPulse Gold module, and I'm very
impressed. I'm amazed this is even possible with 4D.

John,
I just wanted to say thanks for all the time and effort that
you have put into creating DataPulse. It was a great tool from
the start, but, with the new structure editor features in DP
Gold it really is a 4D developers "Gotta Have Tool".
I just finished a project cleaning an older structure. It involved
deleting subtables, fields and tables. I really thought I was
going to be in for a BIG job. DataPulse helped me finish in
a fraction of the time I planned. Keep up the great work.

DataPulse
is a real time-saver for my style of data modeling, which is
basically Reverse Engineering. With the ability to quickly build
models, easily make changes, and move things around when new
information becomes available, this tool is perfect for the
job.

I
have found DataPulse to be an essential tool for creating new
applications or analyzing existing ones. I have created ER Models
using DataPulse for every application that I am working on.
No Database developer should be without DataPulse.

We
use DataPulse to model new features in our large VM application.
It is a major time saver to import the model into 4D rather
than use the structure editor, not to mention actually getting it right!

A
must-have tool especially during the project planning phase
when we are flushing out the data entity relationships. I also
use DataPulse to do quick entity diagrams when I am working
on a complex query or reports where information is pulled from
many tables.

Just
thought I would write a quick rave about DataPulse. This product
is fantastic - I can't imagine starting a new 4D project without
using DataPulse. I bought it about a year ago now (you must
have the records!) on a recommendation from Dave Batton and
have not been disappointed. I am currently studying my Masters
in Information Technology and was able to use DataPulse for
my most recent assignment - needless to say it was a success!

John, DataPulse is probably the best tool I have in my 4D toolbox. It was great before but now you've added StructurePulse and they're simply indispensable. Thanks again for all your hard work and commitment to help the rest of us 4Ders. I must say it is a pleasure to work with you!

And
now a longer version by John...
My
real world experience with DataPulse has so profoundly changed
the way I approach a 4D project, that I thought I would share
it with you. I first started using DataPulse near the end of
2001 when I was given the opportunity to take over a project
from another developer. I hate working with someone else's code
so I decided to propose a complete rewrite using the previous
version as a base. I used DataPulse to reverse engineer the
old version. I then created a new structure within DataPulse
based on the old and prepared a written proposal with DataPulse
printouts that, thanks to DataPulse, I credit with winning the
contract.
When I was ready to start, I had DataPulse add the proposed
structure to a Foundation shell. I was able to do this one module
at a time, over the course
of the next year. DataPulse has also been a key player in helping
me map data from the old structure, which continued being used
in production, to the new structure.
During the course of the year I continued to maintain an up
to date version of the structure within DataPulse. Whenever
I needed to add a new feature to the database that involved
structure I first conceptualized the new structure within DataPulse
then exported the new structure components from DataPulse to
the project database. When it came time to switch the client
from the old version to the new in early 2003, I firmly believe
that using DataPulse's modeling features during the development
phase made that transition easy and seamless.
I am now reaching the end of the project and cleaning up loose
ends. I had 70+ tables that, due to a switch in methodology,
were no longer needed and bloating the structure. Yesterday
I used DataPulse Gold to delete those
tables. The process was absolutely painless. It took less than
30 minutes to create the new structure and a couple of hours
to export/import the 1gig data file. I have put the new structure
through extensive testing and as far as I can tell it is perfect.
Everything is there and working beautifully. For me, DataPulse,
has become the most valuable tool in my 4D toolbox. The new
DataPulse Gold is just icing on the cake!.

. . I think you get the picture! Right?
